Cinnamon/ Chocolate Baked Donuts

These Baked Vanilla Donuts are healthy since we are not frying them in oil. They can be eaten as such or with sugar or chocolate glaze. They taste so good. They are soft, fluffy and lightly sweet. 😉

Cinnamon / Chocolate Baked Donuts

Ingredients:

130ml  Fresh milk

1tsp     Lemon juice

180g    Plain flour

2tsp     Baking powder

80g      Caster sugar

1/2tsp  Sea salt

2          Whole egg

40g      Vegetable oil

1tsp     Vanilla powder

Chocolate glaze:

30g  Butter

50g   Milk

80-100g    Dark chocolate

Cinnamon sugar:

20g   Melted butter

2 Tbsps  Caster sugar

1/2 tsp   Cinnamon powder

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C. Grease the doughnut pans.
  2. Mix the lemon juice with milk, set aside.
  3. Into a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, vanilla powder, baking powder and salt.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and oil. Stir the wet mixture into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a pipping bag, pipe into the donut pan three-quarters full.
  6. Bake for 17 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then tap the doughnuts out onto a sheet pan.

For the topping:

  1. Cook the butter and milk over low heat, until buble forms at the side of the pan, turn off heat and pour into the chopped chocolate bowl, and stir until the chocolate has melted.
  2. Melt the butter. Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Dip each doughnut first in the butter and then in the cinnamon sugar, either on one side or both sides.

Happy Baking!
