Steamed Cassava cake 蒸木薯糕

This Cassava cake is made from fresh cassava , coconut milk (santan) and with caramelized on top. You can put with grated cheese for topping.

Steamed Cassava cake 蒸木薯糕

Ingredients: 

550 g       Cassava

200 ml     Santan

2 Tbsps   Sugar

4 Tbsps   Sugar ( to make caramel)


Method:

  1. In a saucepan with low to medium heat, melt 4 Tbsps  sugar until it caramelizes or becomes golden brown. 
  2. Once done, pour and spread in the bottom of a tin then allow it to cool down and harden.
  3. Peel the cassava then grated and squeezed (Remove cassava juice).
  4. In a bowl, combine grated cassava, 2 tbsp sugar and santan. Mix well then set aside.
  5. Pour the mixture into prepared tin with caramelized sugar. Spread evenly.Cover it with aluminum foil.
  6. Steam for about 40-45 minutes.
  7. Remove aluminum foil and allow to cool down.
  8. Turn steamed cake over on a plate and cut in desired shape. 
  9. Put some toppings like cheese (optional).
