Nisi Lemak Cake 辣死你媽蛋糕

Bored with the ordinary cake?Take your birthday celebration to the next level with this bizarre but savoury nasi lemak cake, our national dish but in cake form!

Since my hubby ia not a sweet tooth person, so, I made this savoury cake for him to celebrate his birthday.  He preferred salty or spicy rather than sweet.😘

This cake comes with a bed of fragrant basmati rice (basmati mixed with fragrantas rice) as the cake base and layered with a golden omelette in between and top. It's generously spread with sambal and topped with fried prawns, sambal prawns, boiled eggs, and decorated with pandan leaves and blue pea flowers. Last but not least, it's finished off with slices of cucumbers surrounding the cake. 

My cake is full of prwns and eggs, so I can't squeeze in the anchovies and peanuts, otherwise, it would be typically an authentic taste of Malaysia! 😍

To avoid an extra work to make the sambal, I used store bought packet of sambal. I added some chopped garlic, chopped shallot and chopped ginger, fried til fragrance then added in a packet of sambal.  Add a little of water and some fried prawns. Cooked til the oil separated from sambal and water became lesser.

Ingredients:

Nasi Lemak

Ginger 

Shallots

Butterfly Pea/ Blue Pea Flower Juice

Pandan leaves

Coconut oil 

White rice (a cup and a half)


Other ingredients:

Omelette

Boiled egg

Anchovies

Peanut

Sambal

Cucumber

Prawns


材料:

椰油

白米(一杯半)


其余材料:

水煮蛋

江鱼仔

花生

叁峇

黄瓜
