Frying Pan Bread 煎锅面包~~Sweet Red Bean Buns 日式红豆包

This Sweet Red Bean Bun is soft and delicious. If you are a red bean lover, I believe you will like this Red Bean Bun. 😊

To make this buns, you no need to use bread machine or mixer to knead the dough. You only need hand kneed for few minutes...no need to knead to get windowpane. Besides, you don't need an oven to bake the bread, a non stick pan will do! Simple and easy. 😉








Frying Pan Bread 煎锅面包~~Sweet Red Bean Buns 日式红豆包


Ingredients:

100ml    Lukewarm Water

1 tsp (3g)   Yeast

30g    Sugar

200g   All Purpose Flour

25g     Powdered Milk

1          Egg Yolk

Pinch of salt

20g     Margarine / Butter


Filling: 

280g Red Bean Paste (Divide into 35g each)

Black and white sesame seeds for topping


Method:

  1. Add in the yeast in warm water, add one teaspoon of sugar(from30g sugar), stir and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  2. Mix the flour, powdered milk, sugar, egg yolk and yeast mixtures, mix all together with a wooden spoon until it turns into 1 lump.
  3. Add in salt and butter and knead the dough until it turns smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover and let the dough to rise for about 45 minutes - 1 hour or until doubled in size.


Make Buns:

  1. Deflate the dough and knead it for a few minutes. Divide the dough into 8 pieces( 48g each) and roll each piece into a smooth ball. Cover and rest for 10 minutes.
  2. Place one dough onto the kneading board, thinly dust the surface with flour, and flatten the dough and shaping it into a flat circle. Repeat with the rest of the dough balls.
  3. Wrap in 35g of red bean paste and tightly to seal. Round it and flatten the bun a bit and lay the bun sealed-side down on a  parchment paper. Brush some water on the bun and sprinkle some black and white sesame seeds on top. Repeat with the rest of dough. 
  4. Let them rise for 45 mins -1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Heat the non stick frying pan. Place the buns into frying pan and cover with lid, cooking for  4 minutes on low heat. 
  6. Flip the buns and cover with lid, and continue to cook for another 4 minutes.

Note:

  • If you prefer to use oven, this recipe is also applicable using oven. Bake at 180C for 15-18 minutes.
