Chicken cooked in a rice cooker电饭锅焖鸡

This is a lazy version of cooking an entire chicken in a rice cooker, no oil or water, simple marinade, but delicious!
Trust me, this chicken is tasty and nutritious, and furthermore, simple to do ! 😉

Chicken cooked in a rice cooker电饭锅焖鸡

Prep Time: 15 minutes    |    Cook Time: 45 mins to 1 Hour

Ingredients :
1 Whole Chicken - Approx. 2 to2.5kg
8 Stalks of Spring Onion or more
1 Medium size Ginger (Slice)
4-5 Garlic cloves
1 Tbsp Honey

Marinade ingredients:
1 Tbsp Dark Soy Sauce
3 Tbsp soy sauce
2 Tbsp Oyster sauce
1 Tbsp Rice Wine or Hua Tiao Jiu
1 Tsp Garlic Powder
1 Tsp Black Pepper Powder
1 Tsp Salt
1/2 Tsp sugar

Method:
1. Wash and pat dry chicken.

2. Marinade the chicken with above marinade ingredients and insert knoted Spring onions, ginger slices and garlics into chicken stomack. Set aside for half an hour. *Don't forget to apply the marinade to the chicken stomack as well. 

3. Put some spring onion and ginger slices into rice cooker as a base, then place the chicken breast side down on top of it and pour the remaining sauce into it.

4. Close the lid of the cooker, set the cooker for the regular rice setting, and press the start button. My rice cooker take  30 minutes for cooking time. Therefore, I need to cook the chicken for second time to ensure the chicken is cooked (I cooked for 15 minutes before timer goes off ).

5. Once it cooked, take it out from the rice cooker and brush with honey and the remaining sauce onto chicken.

6. Sieve the remaining sauce and boil it with some starch water to thicken it. (You can omit this step)

Notes:
1. Chicken needs to be marinated for half an hour to make it more flavorful.

2. I cooked this on a regular rice setting, once it done, I spoon some sauce and poured it on the back of the chicken to make sure the chicken was colored, then I switch it on again to cook for 15 minutes. 

3. Please check your rice cooker's setting time. Don't over cook the chicken, otherwise, the gravy may dry out in the pot and the chicken is overcooked.

3.将一些葱和生姜片放入电饭煲中作为底座,然后将鸡胸肉面朝下放在其上,然后将剩余的酱汁倒入。

4.关闭电饭煲的盖子,将电饭煲设置为常规的米饭设置,然后按开始按钮。我的电饭锅需要30分钟的烹饪时间。因此,我需要再第二次煮鸡肉,以确保鸡肉已煮熟(我在计时器关闭前煮了15分钟)。

5.煮熟后,将其从电饭锅中取出,并用蜂蜜和剩余的酱油刷到鸡肉上。

6.将剩余的酱汁过筛后用一些淀粉水一起煮热以使其变稠。(您可以省略此步骤)

笔记:
1. 鸡需要先腌制半小时使其更入味。

2. 我用常规的米饭将它煮熟,一旦煮熟,我用小勺子取出一些酱汁倒在鸡背上以确保鸡肉上色,然后再次打开它煮15分钟。

3. 请检查电饭煲的设置时间。不要过度煮鸡肉,不然,肉汁可能会在锅中变干并且鸡肉煮得太熟。
