Herbal Chinese Tea Eggs

My family likes to eat this  herbs fragrance egg , me too !! ^ ^

This herbal Chinese tea eggs is very easy to make .

Ooops, I took a picture of the herbs spices packet cover ( from the dustbin hahaha...)  to show you. I used two bags of herbs (2 bags of herbs inside a packet)  to boil with 30 eggs. I added some spices too. ^ ^ The soup a bit too sweet, so you can add in 1 tbp of sugar instead of 2 tbp..... ^ ^ Happy trying !

Look at the beautiful marble design on the egg....... ^ ^
Ingredients :
30 eggs
1 packet of Herbal Egg Spices
1  cinnamon stick
2 small pieces of angelica (dong gwai )
1 star anise
3 cloves
3-4 tbp light soy sauce
1 tbp thick black soy sauce
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 tbp salt

Method :

  1. Gently place the eggs in a pot and fill with water to cover the eggs by 1-inch.
  2. Bring the pot to a boil, lower the heat and let simmer for 3 minutes. Rinse the eggs with cold water till they are cooled.
  3. Using the back of the teaspoon, gently tap the eggshell to crack the shell all over. Or you can gently knock the eggs on the table to crack the egg shell. The more you tap, the more intricate the design.
  4. Return the eggs to the pot (a clean boiled water pot )and add in the remaining ingredients. Bring the mixture to a boil and immediately turn the heat to low. Simmer for 2 hours, cover with lid and let eggs steep for a few hours to overnight.

Happy cooking !!
