Braised Chicken


My family loves this dish.You will  addicted to this dish and have a second bowl of rice...its yummy !

Mom's  recipe :
1 whole chicken
2 tbp sugar
3 inches length ginger cut into slices
2 star anise,5 cloves, 1 cinnamon stick,dashes of 5 ground spices
2 whole big garlics
some salt
1 tbp light soy  sauce
dashes of thick soy sauce
3 -4 cups water

Method:
1) put some oil in the heated work,add in sugar to caramel it into the light brown colour on low heat

2) add in ginger & fry about 2 minutes.

3) add the chicken & fry the stomach side 1st,once it is brown in colour,flip it to the other side continue to fry it  into brown colour.

4) add in water which is slightly cover the chicken.

5) add in all the spices & garlic,cover it & simmer it till the water is boiling.

6) add in both soy sauce &  salt , cover it . Let it cook on low heat for 10 minutes,then flip again the chicken & cook .Keep flipping it until the chicken get even brownish in colour.

7) cook it about 30 minutes - 40 minutes till the chicken   is cooked.
